Outstanding food, beautifully presented, great decor and great service. We liked it so much that the next time we go to Cardiff, we will book to eat here. In fact, even if we are just passing Cardiff on the we will probably come off the motorway to eat here before carrying on our way. It is not really easy to define the menu, as it had Chinese, Japanese and Malaysian dishes. We each had a different starter and main course (and did a Gavin and Stacey mix'n'match with each other). Everything was delicious. I checked to see if tips were shared with all of the staff (they are) and as we were so impressed we left a tip.

The Discovery is the latest addition to the Knife Fork Food brand and takes its place alongside companyâs other outlets, namely The Conway in Pontcanna, The Pilot in Penarth and The Old Swan Inn in Llantwit Major. Anyone familiar with The Discoveryâs siblings will be immediately at home as the blackboard menu concept has been continued here along with a simpler lunch menu served between and every day except Sunday. As the blackboard menu can change frequently it even has its own Tumblr blog here . The ever changing chalkboard menu I wasnât familiar with the Discovery before I attended the soft launch but itâs obvious the amount of renovation work that has gone on inside. Thereâs a large airy bar area and a nicely appointed restaurant area. Part of the Discovery’s Restaurant Area As I was attending the soft launch (basically a dry run to help the kitchen and front of house smooth out any issues before the paying customers arrive) it wouldnât be fair to write this up

Cote in central Cardiff is normally excellent, especially for breakfast which is when I usually visit. There's a good range of options for breakfast from the traditional bacon and eggs, to eggs royale and pastries and French breakfast. The staff are usually helpful and friendly. The restaurant opens from which isn't obvious. Most recently I dropped in at but was greeted by a stroppy member of staff who filled me in about the opening times. I probably would have waited until but didn't like the person's attitude so decided to go next door to another restaurant. It opens at by the way.
